Dam you get something going in the right direction. They we turn around And go backwards. . You don't see the sec stopping it championship game to Focus on a bowl game. And the question is what happens when the celebration bowl is stop again like to Heritage bowl . Back to ground one looking for A sponsor and venue .. the dam SWAC

I think its the Best thing, 1. It Gives Other schools a Chance at the Playoffs 2. It will allow more fans to attend the Game 3. Our Best team is auto in the Game. The SEC dont have to worry about saving a bowl game, If we can Grow the game in the 2nd MB Stadium, it give us a chance at the late Game on ABC during that Saturday and opening Day of Bowl Season since we can easily have a more exciting bowl then the HR Carrier and other bowl games.

The epitome of hustling backwards. You had a great deal with Houston and really good attendance with a championship game that got good exposure for your conference and you trash it for a bowl game that can get scraped at any time if they feel like it??? I am greedy, any time our schools can get on tv and promote the conference in a positive way I am all for it. They must know something we don't know...........

Oh, believe me. It was. This decision had NOTHING to do with the Celebration Bowl.

I think it was a factor in the decision with them looking at how the attendance was for last years game and those schools involved sending fans to Atlanta for the CB.

I expect them to move out of the Toyota Center for another cheaper venue for the basketball tournament next.

Sorry but the game time is not changing. It fits ESPN's programing of starting the Bowl season off with a lower tier game since we're FCS.

Nope, long story short, I'm told the expenses associated with the game got out of control.

I was told the tournament will be moved the the Delmar Fieldhouse.

How has this worked for the MEAC?

Also, will this open up the opportunity for our teams to be a part of the playoffs (which is a financial burden).

The SWAC is going to have to do some heavy promotions to make this work. Meaning, whomever the SWAC Champion is the other 9 schools will also have to represent at the Celebration Bowl. Now it would be interesting if each school in the conference received so many tickets to sell. Hell I don't know something to push numbers.

.

I don't like that. It's a nice venue since the renovation, no doubt. But it has a capacity of 5,000. Granted, the tourney games, especially in the early rounds, don't draw well. But sheesh.....only 5K?

Hell nobody ever uses Reliant Arena! probably expensive too!

Almost sound like we lost Toyota as a major sponsor for these events.

Using the tie breaker system to determine who will go to the CB for the meac.

It's only a financial burden for those schools hosting a playoff game. Those schools playing Thanksgiving weekend still won't be in the playoffs. The FCS selection committee will still shun oue conference for a at large bid.

Remember there is only the semi's and finals being played now and Toyota Center was basically empty. If Prairie View isn't in the finals, I don't think the capacity will matter. Look at how it's been these last few years even with stu in it, attendance hasn't been stellar.

Looks like the SWAC Champion will have a crazy crowd armed and ready for the Celebration Bowl. Those numbers are really going to go up now.
