Exactly they fired a 80% winner because he couldn't beat Saban to hire a coach that's only been successful as an interim coach. They knew they couldn't afford Herman if Texas jumped in with that large amount of money they still owe Les Miles.
 



Also, Tennessee may be side-eyeing Butch Jones too. They were supposed to be title contenders this year, but end up finishing 8-4 with a loss to Vanderbilt. lol
 
He could have them where Indiana is now if he takes it. I probably would take the USF job if Taggart takes the Oregon job

Yeah he will not get a HC job. But he can rehab his image for an OC job. Hell I hope Urban hires him. LOL. Only thing Tim Beck is good for is recruiting.

I don't think many coaches were interested in Baylor.
I am sure they wanted an offensive minded coach to continue what Briles was doing. So that took Les Miles out the running. Kiffin probably not a fit in Waco. The only other coach I could see them trying to get would be PJ Fleck from W Michigan. I doubt he was interested. He thinks he is can either stick around one more year for a bigger job or get that Oregon gig.

Gundy was linked to that job -- in fact, that job and the Oregon job.

Wrong. Jimbo wanted 6.5 Million for 10 years and LSU said thanks but no thanks. He's clearly not worth that. Herman was trying to leverage LSU vs Texas and LSU said bye see ya later.
