Odums is working because he has a product on the field...He is making ppl wanna come to the games...
The product on the field that he has brought in is a hidden gem.
Also I think Odums listens to the Nation, granted he may not say it out loud, but he hears the comments and the grumbling that we may at times say/do.
Stump heard the grumbling and comments made by the Nation, but he was (as mentioned) so stuck in/on his ways, and that could be, he hasn't had a fan base like SU.
Odums knows now how hard the fans will ride for SU, that's the key difference to me, along with making the game fun to watch. The kids out there are having fun and they want to play and compete, not saying those kids under Stump wasn't having fun, but it's showing under Odums tenure that the kids seem to enjoy going out there and representing SU.
I am not sure if Odums will/is doing this, but I would love to see the old past players come back and make/show some type of presence. Again, they may well be doing this.

In actuality, Southern is in much better shape now than it was late in Pete's time and during Stump. No decline. This isn't PlayStation, can't go 11-0 every season. Even Pete had 6-5/7-4 seasons. However, the team has been competitive in the Worm days.

difference with Pete when they were rolling was beating SU meant something for the soul, you felt the win and like the weight of the world was lifted as you shut them up
Beating Pete at the end you almost felt sorry for him and everyone saw SU was not the same with Stump..Hard to gauge the identity of SU with Odums as this is not the Pete Richardson era and fans are not as boastful like they were in the 90s and 2000s....

Fans got spoiled during Pete. The downfall of Pete/Stump era was humbling.
What hurt Coach Pete was those 2 years 06-07 were a lot of players was ineligible those years. It's was no doubt that we would've won a championship one of those years.

He took su out of it's 32 year streak of not winning an outright SWAC title. That's 32 long whopping years.
