Postseason access loss and penalties
In order to compete in the 2016-17 postseason, teams must achieve a 930 four-year APR. NCAA member representatives chose the 930 standard because that score predicts a 50 percent graduation rate for the team. Additionally, teams must earn at least a 930 APR to avoid penalties.

“The goal of the Academic Performance Program is to encourage academic achievement, not to punish those who don’t meet the mark. We will continue to work with schools and teams who don’t reach the 930 standard to make sure every student-athlete has the opportunity to succeed,” Emmert said.

Teams scoring below 930 can face consequences intended to direct additional focus on academics. Those penalties can include practice restrictions and playing-season reductions. The intention is to fill time that would have been spent on athletics with academic activities.

Twenty-three teams in Division I will be ineligible for the postseason in 2016-17 due to their low APR, compared with 21 teams last year.

In 2016-17, 31 teams are subject to penalties – in addition to the postseason requirement – for not meeting the minimum academic standard set by member schools. In 2015-16, 28 teams took penalties.

Schools may request a waiver from some or all penalty elements. Waivers are overseen by the Committee on Academics. The Academic Performance Program penalty structure includes three levels, with penalties increasing in severity at each level. Schools move through the penalty structure each year, progressing to the next level of severity if their multiyear APR remains below the benchmarks.

The specific penalties for each team are listed on the school’s report in the APR searchable database.

Shouldn't be surprised. They gave us a 0 for a number of sports 2 years ago due to the data issue. APR is a 4 year measure. We have 2 more years of this coming.

I remember going thru our humiliation a few years back. Keep your head up SU.

All are HBCU's except for VMI. As HBCUs, we have to put the funds in and hire compentent employees to ensure this doesn't happen. Charles came along at the right time for us and hired the right people and the University invested.
Is it any wonder why Texasterrer posted the thread. One just HAD to know it wasn't anything positive regarding Black schools if that dude posted it on here.

And look at Morehead State on the list. Appears those players Woods ran off there have rolled around and bit them in the butt

sU is coming up on their 10th anniversary. We should plan a banquet. I'm sure the SWAC office will celebrate it. After all, they are perfectly okay with it. Expectations & Standards don't exist in this conference.
The SWAC will not take any adverse actions against any school if those actoins do not impact JSU in the process. When we are doing what are supposed to do, the other schools can screw around as much as they want with no reprimand. When we get caught slipping, that's when you can expect Du-nothing to step in and say something.

Its not TT fault our schools are not taking care of business. At some point someone like you would've posted it throwing shade as SU, and those others school anyway.
Who said it was his fault? I know why dude posted it and based on your comment, you naively fell right into his trap.
Me not liking su has nothing to do with Texaserrer's ulterior motives towards HBCU's.
