Jackson State, I got a question.

Devil's Gun Trigger Man

onward and upward son!
Why send a kicker for media day when you have a 3rd year quarterback in Lamontiez Ivy and a beast of a receiver in Dan Williams? I'm just trying to understand the logic. Seriously not trying to be funny.

Why not the kicker?

You really asked that? Who going to a game to watch a kicker kick? Even as great as Adam Vinatieri is they not skipping Tom Brady or Peyton Manning to talk to him. It is just odd to have a kicker represent your offense when you have a quarterback that has good numbers and a receiver with NFL potential.

He took Ivy last year. But like TP said nobody can answer that question. Our kicker is a senior so maybe he wanted to give him that experience before he graduates. He put up really good numbers and was a HUGE part of our offense. DW is only a sophmore so he will go maybe next year. I dont have a problem with it.

Yeah, normally a coach takes a Senior. That's why I was surprised to see Ivy there last year. Deising seems to be a remarkable young man, though. He is an Engineering major who has done internships abroad. And he is a pretty good Kicker, too. I think it was a great choice by OMJ to take him. It's Media Day....not 7-on-7's LOL.

Why not the kicker?

Because kicker's lives don't matter. *smh* Kicking is a VERY important part of the scoring/field position game.

Congrats to the young man for representing your university. He was #4 in scoring last fall and tied for #1 w/ respect to FGs made. Obviously he's a threat. If memory serves correct, didn't he nail a 47 yarder against PVAMU? My bad, I looked the stats over and now understand the hate for the kicker. I'd hate too if our guy was 10th out of 10 member schools.

That wasn't the question and I didn't say people were coming to the game to watch the kicker We all know that. I just said why not the kicker? I am sure OMJ has a legit reason why he chose the kicker. He is a good representative of Jackson State Football. A senior who is well deserving.

I doubt that any of us can answer that question.

However, the kicker has great stats, he is a senior and he deserves to go just as much as anyone else.

Actually I agree. That kid is freaking money. All SWAC every year. So no argument from me on that. Also it is up to the coaches. Maybe the kid shows leadership and that's who you want at those events. Not necessarily the best players on your team are the ones who are the leaders on and off the field.

If The Kicker is considered one of the team leaders, Why Not?

Team Leaders are not limited to Skill Position Players. This is one of the basics of the game of Football: TEAM CHEMISTRY. If his teammates look to him as one of the leaders why not? If he is a senior and has been with the team the last 4 years, he has been to at least 2 SCGs (Correct me if I'm Wrong).

Maybe the kicker may have NFL potential *shruggs*

Aint he automatic from the 30-40 range?
Not NFL potential, but definitely worth a trip to Media Day. All-SWAC potential at the very least. Our K from a few years ago, Eric Perri, was our best chance at getting a K on an NFL roster, and I don't think Deising is better than him.

I just noticed, The damn SWAC blocked me on Twitter smh. All I did was correct them during the MLB draft when they left off two players from the list of drafted players. Highly unprofessional smh.

LOL.. You Too??? They Blocked me during basketball season because I mentioned something about the officiating of one of the SWAC basketball games I was watching on ESPNU.

I'd rather they ask Ryan about being in jsu record books for fg made than ivy going up there chewing gum and giving vague answers. Dan will get his time to go.

So am Assuming the kicker is not important, a TD is only 6 Points and Xtra Point might I add that he made EVERY SINGLE PAT deserves attention! He may also be the deciding factor in a few games this year like against Valley which always play even tougher at itta bena, vs SU in mumford and VS AMMU in huntsville or and PV in Texas we might win all of them by a field goal or more, HELL YOU NEVER KNOW! Then again JSU's offense might be so good that a Field goal may not be needed at all this year!

Yeah Ivy be going HARD on that gum.... LOL
I'm not really sold on Dan's interview skills either.

they are not there, Dan is only 19 or 20. and his interview skills are not there at all, he speaks like he has a chip on his shoulders and IVY has improve very much in giving interviews
