Which has the potential to create leeching. Seeing one school with the bigger cut should motivate the others to get to that level. We are slowly repeating 1999 all over again.

Give it all to the SWAC Champion except the fees owed to the SWAC Office.

Since the SCG was created, how many schools in the SWAC have been participates in at least 3 SCGs?

No HBCU has the stroke to make two entire conferences come together with the Worldwide Leader in Sports to create a bowl game.

Sheesh, some of y'alls insecurities and conspiracy theories are just out there...

And about bowl game payouts, it's in the contracts that the conference representative in the game gets the biggest share of the payout ... since, yanno they played in the game. No different than any other bowl game with conference ties.

So WTF does how many times a team has been in the SCG have to do with the bowl game? However, I'm feeling playful and I'll oblige you today.

Grambling: 7 times (6-1)
Alabama A&M: 6 times (1-5)
Southern: 5 times (3-2)
Jackson State: 5 times (1-4)
Alabama State: 4 times (1-3)

after that
UAPB went twice (1-1)
PV and Alcorn went once (1-0 and 1-0)
Texas Southern went once, but the NCAA struck that from its record...

So unofficially, all teams except Valley have been to the SCG, with Grambling, AAMU, Southern, JSU and Alabama State going more than 3 times.

So BH, you do know the SCG goes back to 1999 ...

Grambling's best run of success was in the early 2000s hence them calling Birmingham, "Gramblingham"

Alabama A&M's best run was in the late 90s, early 2000s also ... let some of the JSU faithful tell you, AAMU was the primary benificiary of the B*** Error days.

Before this season and last season, Southern didn't make it to the SCG since losing to T-Jack and Alabama State in 2004.

So what in the hell is your case.

The Mexico Bowl games draws more than 81% of the SWACs teams's home games..come on yall...smh and yall think this Celebration Bowl game will grow into something big with the way things are setup now..This is wha yall standing on..

Again show me a bowl where it's been poorly attended...I'll continue to wait...

What's poorly...under 20k for 3 years straight since yall say it's alot of poor bowls out here LOL

and I'm telling yall Year 3 or 4 this celebration bowl wont sniff 20k if things are not changed..

Folk, please miss with the attendance doesn't play a part, who wants to keep investing into a product when the product isn't being attended..come on now yall..yall trying to save face now, with this "oh attendance don't matter" BS. That's business 101, if something isn't attended, ppl won't invest into it...smh. This the VP of Samsung talking now to the board of investors ---->."oh no it don't have to have any ppl there" but we will continue to put money behind it hoping one day, just one day, we will get 10k ppl in the stands..LOLOL..man yall get off the boo boo fo real

I couldn't care less about what former what said...They again don't understand what needs to be done as A WHOLE, this won't work in Year 7, I kept saying..yall looking at 'short term' crap..a lot of black ppl don't look at sh`t pass 2-3 years with anything..they are so caught up with the now and don't understand how to make stuff work on "auto-pilot"

When you have a Celebration Bowl on the right platform, that game should draw 50 plus every year, no excuses...

Dude, you're so interested in trying to be right that you've lost focus of the bottom line. The game is FREE for the SWAC and MEAC. It generates revenue for all involved. It's on national television for free.
What the heck are you complaining about? Whether it's successful or not is not the end all be all. Bowls come and go, so this one would be no different, EXCEPT it involves HBCU schools for once.
It's really ashamed that folks can't be thankful that "we" have something that we can potentially call our own.
Nevermind the fact that 30 bowl games involve ALL White schools. I don't hear you complaining about that.

Why can't we just support something that features US and allows US to be on the national stage without always sitting back bitching without a better plan? If this goes through, now we have (MEAC/SWAC Challenge, Bayou Classic, SWAC Championship, and The Celebration Bowl) ALL ON NATIONAL TV, along with the weekly ESPNU games. This means that HBCU Sports now more than ever is getting exposure to more people. Continue building your brand and SUPPORTING things that pour back into our institutions instead of being sidetracked with nonproductive arguments that don't advance the conferences.
 



Let me get this straight. Bowl games that average far less in attendance than our conference championship game qualify as being well attended? Keep on moving those goal posts...

Pretty much! This has been the most widespread coverage for HBCU athletics ever. Now, hindsight being 20/20 ... we should've jumped in on the front end of the explosion of cable/satellite/internet broadcast TV. But we're now. The other FCS schools would kill to have the reach and appeal of our product.

Think about it ... the SWAC now has the SWAC/MEAC Challenge, Bayou Classic, Southern Heritage Classic, Magic City Classic, State Fair Classic, the SCG and now this bowl game. Now we've got to be more aggressive in increasing the reach of our product, which in turn brings more revenue to our schools and potentially more students in our classrooms.

No, the point 99 was making is that the New Mexico Bowl is owned by ESPN. You say we are missing the point, when it is you who are missing the point. ESPN is about creating content for its network of channels. You just mentioned the "unknown teams" at the games that nobody cares about (except for the people who are there to support the teams participating) but ESPN knows people still watch football and are willing to watch those "unknown teams" on TV. Advertisers are not going to pay a ton of money just for 25K people at a game, but they will pay quite a bit to have their products seen before a national audience.

This should be a simple a question...an ineligible team should not even be allowed to play in the championship game because the championship itself is a post season game. Duer Sharpe is a byach...so there is the answer to the question.
