TSU basketball accepts bid to WNIT

Although the Texas Southern women’s team will not have a chance to compete in the women’s NCAA Tournament with its withdrawal from the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament this week, the Tigers have postseason hopes through the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, which will announce its 64-team field Monday evening.

Each conference receives an automatic berth in the WNIT, and TSU, as the regular-season SWAC champion, would be the conference’s most likely candidate.

A WNIT spokesman said the tournament will consult with the SWAC and Texas Southern University on a potential tournament invitation.

Southern started the fight but they are trying to convince people that it was TSU's fault, wow. The scary part is some people on this forum are actually agreeing with them, not surprised at all by that. Misery loves company

Man, I do not listen to liars and _ _ _ _ is the definition of a liar and you know it. Come on son, the truth will make you free.
according to you, C-Leb, and DCG SU threw the first punch and a cheerleader hit a tSU player. We all saw that wasn't true on the video that SU athletics provided.

Maybe you need to look back at the video. Just keep a eye on the tSu player that took the charge.

Varrick.... dude...... if you were actually AT the game you would see that #4 Miracle Davis (the Texas Southern player that took the charge) when getting up was looking AT her coaches and teammates on the bench because they were cheering her on for taking the charge and she was excited the call went in her favor.

SHE WAS NOT BUCKING UP TO THE southern PLAYER!!! The player was right there but she was NOT bucking up to her.

Still ... I've never seen y'all so riled up about women's basketball.

This place used to be so beautiful (thanks GR)

She took the charge and got up, didn't throw a punch or push anything. The TSU player walked away so did the SU player. After that another SU player pushed another TSU player from behind. That is when all hell broke loose, Stevie Wonder can see that bro.

There was a lot of sarcasm in my statement pimp.

People are STILL looking at the video trying to find stuff the justify their arguments ...

I knew you were smarter than that. You, J4L JR, PJ and JagBR seem to be the most level headed Jags on here. I just watched the video again and nothing changed in my eyes. I'm not on here trying to bash Southern at all, just trying to figure out how people are not seeing that a second SU player pushed a separate TSU player and that is what kicked the fight off. The TSU player that took the charge and the SU player that fouled were just basically jaw jacking each other after a physical play nothing unusual there.

I really believe if nothing else happened after that initial push/punch/whatever (and no one left the bench and escalated the fight) the refs would've ejected who they needed to eject and got things under control.
Like you, I saw the push in the back. I saw players on the court from both teams trying to restrain their teammates (just like how things go down in the NBA).

However, no matter how much people throw around that the players are thugs or this schools' thuggish and what not (when all 10 of our schools got some bad references on our resumes) ... being there in person and watching it sickened me. Watching the video sickened me. There were no winners in this whole deal. I'm still trying to figure out WTF people still arguing for to be honest.

Hell, I didn't know what the exact call was until reading it in the paper and S phi S talking about it (he was at the scorer's table, so he was in a much better position to get the call right than I did). BTW, block/charge calls are bang-bang plays for the most part ... but in this case, it was the correct call IMO.

Seeing that this is the smack board, I'll take it as that, that you really meant PJ and Jag-Br were level-headed. Hahahahahahaha!!

Southern is not eligible for the NCAA Tournament....

SU Coaches are playing for their bonus check, since they lost it when SWAC awarded both teams a loss...
