Stop trying to instigate shyt. What happened was a shame, and it will be interesting to see how the conference handles it. Both teams have had good seasons, but they may ruined it all for themselves.

Typical Beans.....What he should be worried about is their football team's "skilled" players running a 5.5 in the 40 along with a coach that wears depends.

Hmmmm.....su's 2nd bench clearing brawl THIS SEASON.....sTu's first incident of any kind and just as we were about to take control of the game.........HMMMMMMM
This was our first fight of the season, what are you talking about? The AAMU thing was just 2 players trying to gain possession of the ball and both benches over-reacting. No punches were thrown and it was handled quickly with the game being able to be completed.

Hold up! Both benches? The article said 3 Southern players were automatically ejected for leaving the bench. It said nothing about AAMU's bench escalating the situation. Don't try to bring us down in y'alls crap.

Tsu had fans running on the court. Totally unexceptable.

I agree with this. No fans should ever get involved in anything on the floor. The article said su cheerleaders were involved also and that too is unacceptable. su cheeleaders and dancers were restricted to cheering from the stands after the incident.

I wasn't even aware of the incident with AAMU until I read the article which stated it was the 2nd incident (or bench clearing brawl as the writer called it) this season for su.

I was not aware of fans or cheerleaders and dancers being involved Saturday night. Bad scene all the way around.

If Duer didn't have the balls to ban su for it's APR debacles, he's not going to suspend many players from the SWAC tournament. With him, it's all about getting bodies in the seats, so if it has the potential to effect attendance, Duer ain't gone do jack.
In short, Texas Southern, you have nothing to be worried about.

Now if any school should be suspended, it's su's. Texas Southern doesn't seem to have that kind of history. su clearly has a history of exhibiting violent behavior from the basktetball team to the track team to the band to the fans to the cheerleaders. The history is the proof. Just shameful and embarassing.

I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY agree with this. The only caveat is that it may or may not have been TSU fans. There were LOTS of SU fans there last night too. Don't automatically assume it was TSU fans, as the area where the fans came from was right behind the SU bench and lots of them were there.

That said, it is the home team's responsibility to ensure that NO fans, whether home or visitor, make it from the seating area to the floor. That's the one issue I have always had with the setup at the HPE Arena.

Generally speaking when something like this happens, it is the result of the officials allowing the game to get out of control. Trash talking and hard fouls should have been dealt with earlier in the game.

+1, although I wouldn't say the game was particularly chippy. There were, however, a few no calls that probably could have served to calm things down had a whistle been blown.

Are you saying that the fans who were involved in the fight came from behind the su bench? They moved sTu fans from behind the visitor's bench last season.

An su fan in the stands behind the season ticket holder's section was trying to get going last night with C-LeB and company during the men's game. I know the fight occured in front of the su cheerleaders an dancers but I was not aware they got involved. There was so much going on.

Oh yeah, contrary to what is "reported" on the header page concerning the brawl, an sTu player took a charge. No sTu player committed a hard foul.

This is hilarious coming from a jsu supporter.

Hilarious again coming from a jsu supporter. Especially when you've had your own APR issues how about that world class WR that runs the speed of a 8th grade offensive guard though?

I am somewhat confused by the ruling on the game. If you have a double forfeit, how do you declare a winner?

Now that I have gone back and read the rule, I am a bit puzzled as well. The following is the rule on forfeits, as quoted from the NCAA rule book.

Art. 5. When a forfeit is declared, the score shall be recorded as 2-0 and all statistics (other than the teams’ and coaches’ won-lost records) shall be voided, unless 30 minutes of playing time has been completed on the game clock. In that case, the score at the end of play shall stand and all other statistics shall count. (Rule 5, Section 3, Article 5)

Although there is ALSO language that seems to give the official and/or conference elastic power in these situations.

The entire forfeit rule reads:

Section 3. Forfeit/No Contest
Art. 1. A forfeit is the termination of the game by the referee.
Art. 2. The referee shall declare a forfeit when: a. Any player, squad member or bench personnel fails to comply with any technical-foul penalty or makes a travesty of the game. b. When conditions warrant. c. A team refuses to play after being instructed to do so by an official.
Art. 3. The referee shall determine the length of time that shall elapse before a forfeit may be declared.
Art. 4. Conference policy may include an established time limit before a forfeit may be declared.

Art.
Art. 6. When the team that is behind in the scorebook is to be declared the winning team, that score shall be marked with an asterisk in the official statistics; and it shall be noted that the game was won by forfeit.
Art. 7. A “no contest” is when a team does not appear at the game site because of inclement weather, an accident, vehicle breakdown, illness or catastrophic cause. An institution shall not, for statistical purposes, declare a forfeit for nonfulfillment of a contract, but rather shall declare a “no contest.” When officials are not present or available to officiate, there cannot be a sanctioned game/contest.

Still doing more reading, but the bolded parts raise questions to me.

Truth..

I have witnessed so many issues with Su it's ridiculous. Shots fired in the area of the TSU bus. Old grandmas and paw paws trying to fight students for making too much noise in their stadium. I can go on and on, Su really needs to do something about that Scotlandville mentality that infects their university.

Yet another hilarious comment. The THUG from txsu that started the whole fight already had flagrant fouls. txsu has done everything from fighting all the way to causing international incidents involving theft. GFTOH

Not saying that, because I don't know. I'm just saying that it's not just TSU fans that sit on that end.

That's not accurate. That incident was almost 25 years ago. su's incidents are recent like as of last night. You guys need to take ownership of your violence and get it under control. I blame Duer because he's been letting you get away with it for so long, you think it's normal behavior.

Whoa now....lol

A player from each team had a flagrant foul called on them during this game. Lost in all of this is the fact that it was an offensive foul on SU that initiated this entire sequence of events. And while I'm at it, I can say with CERTAINTY that a TSU player was NOT trying to get into the SU locker room.

You also said that the SU bench was cleared and that changed after watching the video.
