NEWS FLASH! PER SWAC COMMISH, DUER SHARP.............

I told y'all this last week. It was posted in Third Coast last week. Allegedly, if a team wins that is not eligible for the NCAA tournament, the team with best conference record that is not banned will go as the conference representative......allegedly.

But the NCAA took the unprecedented step on Friday of allowing ineligible teams to participate and will simply take the highest-seeded eligible team (currently the Alabama State men and the conference-leading Texas Southern women) should more than one eligible team reach the same level of conference tournament play before being eliminated by an ineligible team.

Otherwise, the eligible team that advances the farthest will be the conference’s NCAA qualifier

Has it always been ten teams in the tournament? I thought it was just 8.

In years past, APR penalized teams weren't allowed to participate...Some years, it was 7 teams. Others it was 8 or 9.

Me for one, wished there was no SWAC Tournaments in basketball, softball and baseball. It should be about sending the strongest contender in the field, especially in a one-bid league.
In basketball, just send the regular season champion into the tournament like the Ivy League does.
In baseball/softball, the two teams with the best records play a best two-of-three series to determine the conference champion and NCAA representative.

But once again, the SWAC shows its legendary leadership. I wonder who voted for Southern since Dr. Llorens is persona non grata.

The eligible team that advances furthest in the conference tournaments will receive the automatic berth to the NCAA championships. In the event of a tie (for example, all tournament-eligible teams are eliminated in the same round), the automatic berth will go to the highest-seeded team.

This gonna be funny and interesting. (And EMBARRASSING)
I hope all 4 I ineligible make it to the final 4 LOL
And the 10th seed and 9th seeds were last to be eliminated.
So they'd have to pick the 9th seed by default :lmao:

Let's Go SWAC. MY PREDICTION: 9th seed goes to the NCAA.

I kinda screwed that up but y'all get what I'm saying. Lol

This was a SWAC decision.....not NCAA

...it sucks to be JSU aka The SWAC's Whipping Boy. Continue to make history.

Put the drugs down BH.
And it sucks to be Alcorn. When the last time y'all won a conference title or tournament title? Continue to make history!
Now stay on topic. Kenn said he's banning folks for trolling & "flaming".
Beware!

At least the QUEEN voted no. That's all we can ask from the greatest leader in the SWAC.

JR, I keep telling you that she ain't down with how the SWAC is run. And she can be buddies with the Presidents of other schools but unless some $$$ in involved for JSU, they may as well be enemies when it's time to talk business. On top of that, she was NOT happy with the JSU ban a few years ago. She tried to get them NOT to ban JSU but they would not listen to her. Oh well. She has not forgotten.

I think Mason is the person that represented SU in this. I know he has in the past.

and this is why I hate the SWAC office, I love Grambling with all my heart, but we and no team under NCAA sanctions should be allowed to play in the tourney. this is nothing but a money grab, they need Grambling and SU in the tourney, because both have extremely large fan bases and alumni groups in the area. this decision is pure foolishness, why run the chance of allowing teams that can't play in the NCAA tourney embarrass the team that is going to the represent the conference, THIS DECISION IS INEPT TO SAY THE LEAST!!

And heeerrrrreeeeee we go!!!!!!! I truly hope the Queen is taking notes on how this conference is ran. I know she's making plans at this moment to take us higher.

A poor conference makes a financial decision to try to raise more money. This concept ain't hard to understand. Do I agree? No, but the SWAC is po', bottom line.

I thought about the "financial" aspect of it. But we're basically confirming that our SWAC brand of basketball is a joke. This will hurt the brand. Which will hurt us financially. So you make this decision hoping that you'll get an extra 200 people at the tournament. Is that small $ amount worth being the laughing stock of college basketball right now?
We've made national headlines. Everyone is talking about it and laughing.

The only two sports we have a little hope in is basketball and baseball.
But I'm starting to think that maybe it's just baseball.
It's the only one left without all the drama. LoL

Trust face, they'll find some way to ruin that too.

I think we need to compile a list of all of the e-mail addresses of the Presidents and voice our opinions on this matter. At the very least, the alums of PV, TxSo, Alcorn, and Valley need to voice their concerns at questionable leadership.

Grambling SU MVSU and UAPB should do the right thing and decline the tourney, until we get our houses in order we shouldn't be afforded the chance of winning the conference tourney.

Here's a quick question for the intelligent ones on this board. I truly want you all to ponder this real carefully. What if the NCAA takes this action by the SWAC council (to allow all ineligible teams to play) as a slap to their faces? And they in return drop the hammer on one of the SWAC schools (ex. SU for this faulty paperwork fiasco) to show the conference that this APR and "ineligibility" issue is nothing that they're playing with? I dont trust the NCAA and I truly believe that they make take this as a spite to them. Kinda like the SWAC council telling them that we dont respect what you are trying to do and you can not regulate us. This is uncharted waters the SWAC is entering in and I truly dont believe that they have the power to go up against the Big Bully (NCAA) like this.

if they do do that, it could set the stage for a titanic legal battle. If they were smart the SWAC would get lawyers to sue the NCAA citing the APR as indirectly or directly disproportionately punishment for smaller, poorer conferences with few resources.

Dude, these Presidents don't care nothing about no APR.

also with the success of the O'Bannon case, the NCAA could be ripe for another legal loss.

the NCAA might see this as the conference picking the mighty dollar over academics, it's like poking the NCAA in the eye after they have repeatedly made rule changes to lessen the blow for SWAC schools
