MLB Urban Invitational to Feature GSU, SU, LSU and UNO

The annual, round-robin collegiate baseball tournament, designed by Major League Baseball to place a spotlight on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their baseball programs, will feature returning Division I HBCUs Grambling State University (Grambling, Louisiana) and Southern University (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), plus Division I programs LSU (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) and the University of New Orleans (New Orleans, Louisiana).

Where is the round robin if 2 schools play each other twice without playing one of the other participants?

How do you think the Hornets will fair in the east this year? Do you think Melendez is going to get Bama State to the level he took BCC to?

I have the utmost confidence my HORNETS will retain their standing in the SWAC east and, hopefully, the commissioner's cup race.

Which is runner up. Are you saying that you expect to finish in that position (runner up)? So are you saying you don't think Melendez can do the job at Bama State that he did at BCC? (not sure what the commissioner cup has to do with my question but okay  :emlaugh: )

The SWAC is very competitive in baseball, this ain't the MEAC. Any team in the West, and all teams in the East except AAMU is capable of winning.

Melendez is excited and came out of fall ball with great expectation. The Hornets are deeper in the pitching department and position players have gained valuable experience. This fan expects a conference championship this year.

Should be a great season  anyone knows where the SWAC Championship game will be played.

the MLB academy in New Orleans is practically across the street from SUNO and blocks away from UNO.

The weekend was always going to have New Orleans & LSU. LSU was going to have NO over to open the season and then LSU was to return to NO to open their new ballpark (which is not going to be ready now, thus the game at Zephyr).

MLB approached the two schools to get involved when they opened the UYA in NOLA so they could showcase the facility and work in Louisiana. They both agreed and made their three-game series into a two-game series with each of the schools agreeing to play one of the La. HBCUs at Alex Box Stadium, where there three-game series was set to return on Sunday. NO and their head baseball coach have been very actively involved with the UYA since its open, even playing games last season at Barrow when their field was under construction, plus playing two games there this year against Tx Southern.
