Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Players?

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

How is that? They're getting a free ride. If anything, the NCAA owes those players who generate revenue for the school.

We owe them our support as long as they wear our alma maters' names on their chests.

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

JSU was catching flack long before TP came along. We're good in most sports and folks hate it.

And we DO put pressure on our coaches to win at JSU, so as TP says, we're not to be included with said schools.

Uh Jayrob, TP has been on here damn near from day 1. LOL.

And JSU is not hated except on TSPN. The average SWAC fan that don't post on these sites could care less about JSU or any other SWAC school for that matter.

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

I view it as an even exchange. The student athlete plays for the school and in return the school will pay for his/her tuition. There are always exceptions, but I believe a student goes where he/she wants to be...given the options they have.

It's not even.

Boss, that's not a very smart statement. If you are going to school for free, you owe us something, especially those who contribute to the program. They not just playing for their mama!

They don't owe us anything.

Hate is such a strong word JR. Sometimes when individuals (Thanks Dean Pete) point our flaws, it can be misconstrued. For example if Daddy tells a child that he is not getting something for Christmas, it's not hate. Same concept applies for telling this bunch that they are not getting a Dome for Christmas. Though words are harsh sometimes, it's not always what it appears to be to hypersensitive individuals (Thanks again Coach of the 90's and winner of SGC I, Dean Pete). Expect Lewis in here any minutes to say Pluck that, I hate those........ :emlaugh: If one (an individual thanks Dean Pete) points out the hierarchy of athletic programs in the state of Mississippi in 2012 and Mississippi Valley reigns supreme, it is not hate but pointing out facts (kind of like President Obama pointing out people being able to get service with pre-existing illness from Doctors and republicans feeling like something has been taken away from them). :emlaugh: If you're talking about moving out of the conference and telling folks you're being recruited by CUSA, it is not hate to call it out. It's kind of like your child making $25k a year and talking about buying a Rolls Royce. You just have to tell your little one no, it's not going to happen and it has nothing to do with hate. :emlaugh: I could go on but know you get the picture....... :emlaugh:

Here we go again with the nonsensical records. In modern times from 1970 up until the present, JSU football has dominated su football in every facet with more wins, more NFL players, more SWAC titles, more Hall of Fame players.

If it wasn't for Pete, su football would be in the bottom tier of the SWAC. You guys need to put a statute of Pete right outside Mumphy's entrance.

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

How did this end up being a "JSU this" versus other schools?

At the end of the day the only thing players on scholarship owe us is to graduate and not place or schools in a position to be negatively affected by the APR. The coaches owe fans so much that words cannot describe. Yet, as fans we have to be honest with ourselves enough to realize that coaching is a job just like any other job. When you do not supply productivity (wins), then you should be replaced.

I think that T. Boone Pickens laid the blueprint for millionaire donors to support their universities. As he stated he gave money for football and left the other aspects of the school for other donors. In my opinion it makes sense.

I cannot speak for other HBCU's, but as far as GSU there is a transparency issue as to why we have problems with donating. I'll leave it at that.

Like my dad always said, of you're not helping me to pay my bills you can't tell me how to use my water, lights, and gas. Therefore, until more GSU alums start helping to pay some of the bills then how can we put pressure on anyone?

You can put on all the pressure, raise all the hell, and bring all of the drama, but if you aren't donating $$$$ then all of that noise is just that. The impact is minimal if you aren't donating money. Therein lies the problem with the SWAC.

For example, people have been wanting Tevester Anderson gone from JSU for the past 4 years.....talking bad about him and not attending the games as protest, and in the end, he left on his own terms. Money talks, and we SWAC schools are not doing the right kind of talking.

Why you just mention JSU when someone from another school actually took the time and effort to put HIS school and JSU's records up? I tell ya, everytime it's JSU no matter who the other poster is.:smh: This is what I meant by "hate".

As far as Grambling's concerned, it's fans need to get out and support the team on it's home field and quit settling for these road games.

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

How much pressure is there supposed to be in the SWAC, though if we're honest with ourselves?

Tevester was forced out.

There should be sum pressure if u are getting paid to do a job but I get where u are coming from...but this is SWAC where bragging rights matter more than out of conference wins....:banghead:

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

I don't know who T Boone Pickens is but one donor/supporter is no more important than the other. If I fly to two or three games or in the case of when I was in ATL or MS and drove to 8-9 games a year, yes, they owe me something. Not me personally but the alums who support the university ARE the university. Surely, JSU football would NOT be JSU football without the fans in the stands.

T.(Thomas) Boone Pickens is an Oklahoma State Grad (in the oil & gas and energy business) who currently owns the record amount of money bequeathed to any NCAA institution of $176 million...he first went to Texas A&M but transferred after 1 year...Now catch up with your donations to JSU!:emlaugh:

Re: Are We As SWAC Fans Not Putting Enough Pressure on SWAC Football Coaches AND Play

Thanks for posting this homie. you know SOME folks from JSU(who aren't even worth the keystrokes) will argue these FACTS(facts in general), even if they are on the WRONG side of them, which is about 99% of the time.
