Nas' Child Support Payments Upped

LOS ANGELES — A judge ordered Nas to increase his payments to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Kelis, and their infant son to $51,101 a month Wednesday.

The ruling came after two days of testimony about the musicians, during which both were portrayed as cash-strapped. Nas had been paying Kelis nearly $40,000 a month since July.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Cunningham III issued his ruling after hearing detailed testimony about the musicians' finances, recording deals and significant tax debts. Nas and Kelis both were in court and testified Wednesday.

Rogers recently signed a $175,000 contract to make new music with Interscope records, although her attorneys argued most of the money went to Rogers' former managers and she received only about $50,000. Rogers, who gained fame for the song "Milkshake," downplayed her new music, telling Jones' attorney that the only song she'd recently made debuted on Twitter.

I did read the article.
And?

Ain't Nas fault she didn't handle her business correctly.
If that's the case, she can continue to fugg up her business ventures and keep going back to bleed him for more money to make up the difference.

Tell me why she needed child support to be raise from an already outlandish $40,000 a month to $51,000 a month because she screwed up a contract by not reading the fine print?

I have always said on every thread that pop's up about "family Court" that it's just an atm in the form of a man's wallet.
I have alway's said these judges need their arse kicked for some of the judgement's they pass down.
Shat like this and making men pay for kids that they have DNA evidence proving the kid is not theirs.
As long as they got someone paying, that's all that matters.
Never take into account the mother lied from the beginning.

Most of them in this area of law, Family Court JUDGES, are crap that never hear a word a man say's from the moment they sit down.

If it came back saying he was not the father, it wouldn't matter.
He would still be paying for years before he would run into someone with enough common sense to do the right thing.

That's why I say, damm someone getting mad.
A man better ask for a paternity/DNA test 2 seconds after a kid is born before you sign your name to a birth certificate.

According to the article...

Nas' attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said after the hearing that the rapper benefits from the changes. Nas, whose real name is Nasir Jones, will no longer have to pay $13,000 a month for the former couple's Los Angeles home.


If the judge came up with this number by using the same % that's used when the non-custodial parent makes $70,000 (not rich)...then I don't have a problem with someone paying $51,000/month for child support.

I say the courts should keep it simple by applying the same law/% across the board. of course other things come into play but *shrugs*

Why folks always act surprised when it comes to child support? "You" know if there's a child and both parents aren't together child support/some form of payment is gonna happen.

I got a homeboy right now acting stupid b/c he and his girlfriend are about to split up and they have a baby. My sister and I are like, "dude...you were the one cheating on her KNOWING what would happen if she leaves. why are you acting surprise."

We told him to file for joint custody and quit acting like a bytch!! :shame:
