Tigers have yet another new QB — Mosley

For the third time in three weeks, Jackson State has a new starting quarterback.


Mike Mosley will be under center to begin the Southern Heritage Classic against Tennessee State on Saturday, coach Rick Comegy said Wednesday.

"He brings experience, athleticism and he can run," Comegy said. "I think he'll add a spark, and we don't have to go down to a redshirt freshman (Dedric McDonald). He can be a weapon for us in a lot of different things."

Senior Tray Rutland started in last week's 45-7 season-opening loss at Mississippi State, but only after Comegy spent most of fall camp touting McDonald.

Mosley, a senior, transferred from Louisiana Tech last season and lost out in the QB battle to Rutland. In eight games, Mosley threw for 442 yards, four touchdowns and had three interceptions. He completed 31.4 percent of his passes

Comegy replacing Rutland does not make him an idiot...it makes him a genuis. I will never understand the whole coach is an idiot or dumb or a fool stuff. Folks wore bags over their heads and made threats to James Bell during his two-year stint when the Tigers were horrible.

Now, after demanding a new coach, and getting a new coach who goes out and wins the conference championship game in his second season, and then goes back to the darn game with not the greatest offense in the world he is called an idiot for replacing the underperforming senior. At least Comegy made this move before conference play starts.

Boy, you people don't know what you want. I mean, it's not like the Tigers or any SWAC team will be playing for a national championship at the moment.
 



how does this make him an idiot?!:noidea: ....now I do believe he picked the wrong person to replace Rutland but w/ Rutland in the game we had no shot at winning this saturday...Rutland is a hit or miss QB, his problem is that his hit to miss ration is like 10:1 in favor of missing...as he proved this past weekend, allbeit against an FBS team....but i'm just happy Rutland wont be starting and hopefully will be enjoying the rest of this season with a nice clip board in his hand:lecture:

Actually Kendrick, the reason I said that is because I honestly don't believe Comegy thought Tray was the #1 last week. I think it may have had something to do with Tray playing against his old team....ohhh maybe he'll be motivated against them....etc......and he chose to play him. I don't believe Tray is the #1 QB at all. I mean all of a sudden after last week.....he names Mosley the starter??? You mean to tell me Tray dropped off in less than a week to 2nd string. Something isn't right man......
 
I don't GAF who it is under center as long as it's not TRAE.
Trae has not improved one bit as a QB in his 3 years at JSU.
If it was me, Trae's big arse would be used as a tight end right now. :lol:

If anything I was mad at Comegy for putting Trae in as starting QB against Mississippi State last week even though McDonald beat him out for the starting job.

Posters here last week was talking all that experience bullcrap over a 1st year QB under center and it turned out exactly like the same old offense from last year.
I'm glad he finally pulled the trigger and is trying a new QB even if it is Mosely.
I hope his timming with the receivers is better than the few time he played last year but one thing I do know, he ain't as led foot as Trae.

In fact, I still got my money on Trae starting Saturday. Or, if Mosley starts, Trae will be in by the third series. Woody loves Trae and that is all that matters.

Oh I'm not bamboozled. :lol:
It may take 2 series before TRAE is back in as QB Saturday.
I would not be surprised if he say GAMEDAY decision and TRAE run out on the field to take the opening snap.

Mosely, Tray and McDonald are all pretty close together. The only way we win this year is by emphasizing the running game.

Honestly.
I have seen enough of TRAE.
He's a good kid but ain't got what it takes for some reason.
I just don't see improvement.

I know we had OL problems and it look like those have cleared up this year but TRAE is way to inconsistant for a guy who's been here 3 years with playing time in all 3 years.

I find it hard to believe he was even recruited by MSU.

I can tell McDonald is a novice... he needs to go home, and get his mom to fix Coach a Plate with lots of sweets on it.
