Bell to Return for 3rd Season

I think what we all see from the Jackson State situation is that winning matters. JSU, GSU,and SU have a rich tradition of winning. The decline in JSU's attendance in two years is significant. There are so many SWAC alumni that can't seem to understand why Texas Southern's attendance isn't better than what it is now. Texas Southern football has experienced decades of a poor product. When this happens you lose fans that you had and you fail to gain any new ones due to the records.

That is why an athletic program need to have evryone on the same page. It becomes a complete effort and accountability is imporatnt. I'm sure that JSU will be ok.

So you are saying that the coach that took ya'll to the SCG as interim coach and kept a winning record throughout his tenure was not good enough but the coach you have now is?

Weren't you here when Hughes began to make us the laughing stock of the SWAC.. remember all of the DK jokes?? Everyone knew that Hughes could be outcoached and they were right. On top of it, he could not recruit. Bell can't be tested with the same standards as of yet. Bell totally changed the system into one that can't be built overnight on BOTH sides of the ball. Bell can recruit rings around Hughes and at least Bell knows what is going on on the field. Hughes would have gone 7-4 this no doubt and probably around 6-6 last year but if we want to build a championship program, we had to start over. What we were doing was not working.

ummm TP,
I know it might be hard for you to believe, but under Bell, jsu is MUCH more of a laughing stock. Remember, the one yard game, not crossing the 50 (twice), and the running clock!!!!!!!!!!

and at least Bell knows what is going on on the field. .
really??

I guess you missed the pathetic clock management, the toss sweeps on 3rd and 12, the 4th down QB draw to the 4th string TB :smh:

but I digress, because I know that Bell can do no wrong in your book.

carry on

and Happy Thanksgiving to everybody.

MH, stop trying to convince TP it is hopeless.
Bell philosophy of ball control is okay. However the way he goes about it is all flawed. Bill Bellichek believes in ball control, hence the Patriots signing Corey Dillion. But I will be damned if he will run on 4th and 3 on his own side of the field with time running out. No one is that dumb. He could have put some running plays into Kent's offense last year that would have worked. But no.....he had to shut down the offense totally and try to run damn near every down. You can't do all that isht with the personnel he had. Look at Ty Willingham. He inherited a run oriented offense the first year at ND and he stayed with it and did well with those Srs, same thing Bell should have done. Then Ty recruited his own Qb(Quinn) and started implementing the West Coast offense and he still hasn't installed all of it. Most coaches do that. They don't just chnge everything off the bat unless he has no choice. With Kent he had many choices. Oh well I guess Bell is going to save the SWAC.

BTW, Everybody have a good and safe holiday. I'll see those of you who will be at Pat O's this Friday.

And there's where his problem lies. He has yet to show that he can make the right decisions as a head coach on a consistent basis. Like JR said, he had a team built for a passing attack and he totally scrapped it for a running attack he didn't have the players for. He has done a lot of good things for the program off the field, but in the end his job is to coach, and he has done a poor job of that these two years. Well best of luck to JSU, it's time for me to begin this 18 hour pilgrimage, everybody have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

To me, bell and Hughes are opposites. Hughes really was not as dumb as he appeared to be and sounded. Sometimes the smartest thing to do is not to do much. bell, on the other hand, can talk and sound a lot smarter than he really is, and can fool a lot of people with it (did I step on anyone's toes around here???) but he really ain't that smart and nothing is worse than a person that thinks they are real smart but they ain't.

TP has toooooo much pride to admit Bell is a joke. I know Hughs was not the best man for the job, but look at what he did even though he was not the best man. Now look at Bell, who is not the best man, who had the best record of the two. If going 7-4 makes my team a laughing stock, then laugh on, beacuse they are really laughing now.Better 7-4 then 2-9 or 4-too d--- many. It is clear too any man, but an idiot! that bell knows nothing. Just look at the last plays of the Alcorn game. Even the TV play callers were at a lost about this man. Know they get paid to do play by play and they too have never seen such idiotic play calling. Know Bell claimed he didn't call those plays, but he is the head coach, and he is responable.

Thats what you all use to saw about Haughs. So hold bell to the same standards.

TP you are speaking on emmotions. I am using the facts from the mans past employment. He gave up 32 points a game as a Defence Coordnator at every school he went too. Know when our Defence under Haughs gave up that youall wanted him gone. KNow why would anyman with any kind of football common knowldge, want to replace someone with someone who is preforming at or in Bells case below what you already have.

Spike Lee said it best!"WAKE UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to remind you losers. Bell is part of JSU history. It shall never die.:mrt:

In the Modern ERA of footbal JSU has had 4 losoing season. You have had 18 since 1970. Ron Cooper or any of those loser before mumbles ring a bell..:smh::smh:North Alabama ,Jacksonville State send help fast..

TP shole is singing a different tone....

It's amazing how people flip flop like that...

Here comes "Small World" late as always. I guess he busy helping SUcks stay "undefeated in the stands" the last 4 years.

Hughes went in "99" remember we lost to SU...So what is your point?

He'll just say those were Carson's players or some stupid remark.

Now these sound like REAL JSU alum... They all KNOW TP is crazy as hell...

Funny how this "smart" group of JSU folk has dimissed TP and the new cats call TP prophetic.... Maybe they are just as looney as TP is...

If Bell gets 4 years and can only beat teams with losing records, he will be fired too. You people act like we fired Hughes azz for nothing. All he had to do was win and he didn't!!

According to TP JSU owes Bell another year and a half...

:smh:

Re: JSU football left in limbo as Bell goes into Year 3

MH, Bell is probably the best recruiter in the SWAC. Most of his players have yet to hit the field. 90% of Hughes players were on the field this year. The transition is about to begin.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

This nugga STUPID!!!!

I'm over here dying laughing...:lmao::lmao:

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I know damm well these negro's didn't pull up a 2 and 1/2 year old thread about Bell.:lmao:

Getting ya'll arse kicked hurt's that much huh.

Re: JSU football left in limbo as Bell goes into Year 3

Bruh, Bell's recruits are freshmen....geez. His first class had 8 people in it and most of the TD's scored this year were by his recruits. Bell failed in bringing in some quality linemen...the same area in which Hughes failed but Bell has had VERY limited scholarships.

Hughes destroyed our talent. The man could not recruit. Our talent dropped significantly under his watch. Bell has to rebuild. Before Hughes got there, we had NFL prospects on the bench for two years.

This is what you call FN delusional...
