The Greeley Tribune is reporting that Alcorn State head football coach Earnest Collins is a finalist for the vacant head football coach position at Northern Colorado.
Rául Cárdenas, head of the search committee for the next head football coach at the University of Northern Colorado, confirmed Wednesday that interviews of the finalists for the position will conclude this week and that a coach will likely be named by next week.
The finalists are Colorado School of Mines head coach Bob Stitt, Alcorn State head coach Earnest Collins, Jr., Chadron State head coach Bill O’Boyle and University of Montana defensive coordinator Mike Breske.
Cárdenas also confirmed Stitt was in Greeley on Sunday and that Collins will be in later this week, but all the interviews will be wrapped up by the end of the week. He would not specify which day Collins would interview. O’Boyle is scheduled to interview today. Breske interviewed on Tuesday.
Collins is a graduate of Northern Colorado and just completed his second season on “The Reservation” coaching the Braves to a 5-6 record.
