Northwestern State (4-2) led by as much as eight points (31-23) towards the end of the first half but Grambling fought back and closed out the half with an 8-1 run to tie the contest at 31-all entering halftime.
Whitney Brown’s jumper gave Grambling a 33-31 lead to open the second half but that would be the only highlight from that point as NSU took advantage of cold shooting by GSU to jump out to a 49-35 margin at the 14:20 mark. Grambling never could overcome the early deficit as NSU managed to up its lead by as much as 23 points late in the half.
Rachele Dobbins was the only Lady Tiger to reach double figures with 11 points in 35 minutes of action. Demetria White had a solid outing for the Lady Demons with 12 points and seven assists while Renotta Edwards chipped in 11 points.
Grambling returns to action on Saturday evening with another non-conference match-up versus Stephen F. Austin at 6 p.m. in Grambling.
