Report: Execs Believe Cavs Could Still End Up Trading Kevin Love
by Glenn Erby | Posted on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015

Kevin Love signed a huge deal to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but league executives still believe Cavs GM David Griffin could still end up trading the power forward.

The Cavs ar reportedly confident that a smaller lineup of Tristan Thompson at center and Kevin Love at power forward will work, but the Sporting News is reporting that things could change.

“Maybe in February or in the summer, you could see Love being talked about,” one league executive said. “If he stays healthy next year, that is what is most important. If he plays 75 games or so, then he is still going to have a lot of value, even if his numbers are not great. So it is still a chance for them to get assets going forward and if you gave up the No. 1 pick, you need to be able get something that will help long-term.”

Love agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract on the first day of free agency.

Am I the only LA fan who thinks Lopez, Amir and Tobias would be just as good as getting Aldridge?

Not a Lakers fan but those signings would do nothing but virtually guarantee that the Lakers would be sending their lottery pick to the Sixers next year. Besides, Johnson has already agreed to terms with Boston.

AP Source: Pacers give Monta Ellis 4 years, $44 million
Associated Press 3:57 p.m. CDT July 2, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers got the shooting guard they wanted.

Monta Ellis has agreed to terms with the Pacers on a four-year deal worth $44 million, a person with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The deal includes a player option for the final year. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced. The contract cannot be signed until July 9.

Ellis, a Lanier High School graduate, gives the Pacers a better chance of making a smooth transition from the plodding, half-court offense they used to make the Eastern Conference finals in 2013 and 2014 to an up-tempo style that is flourishing around the league.

Interesting, considering it's likely a far bigger loss for the Clippers than it is a gain for the Mavs.

I was about to say this. Jordan beasting on the boards helped Blake out. Now Blake has to toughen up and make up for those rebounds that they lost with Jordan leaving

The Mavs are probably a playoff team anyway even with losing Ellis. Jordan makes them better defensively and a rebounding machine plus it definitely helps out Dirk in his twilight years

Doc gonna end up calling Perk. And I will laugh.

He was probably calling Perk anyway, you know they were trying to get him when Utah bought him out even though he was washed up 3 years ago. In any case, the only halfway decent option left is Kosta Koufos.

I just know this dude could have went to a better team, at least a contender.

Rajon Rondo agrees to join Kings on 1-year, $9.5 million deal

The Sacramento Kings and free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo have agreed to a one-year deal worth $9.5 million, sources told ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman and Marc Stein.

In the opening hours of free agency Wednesday, the Kings requested a meeting with Rondo and also offered what sources told ESPN.com was a mammoth four-year, $64 million deal to Portland Trail Blazers free-agent swingman Wesley Matthews. Matthews, though, ultimately reached a verbal agreement on a four-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Rondo's reputation AND the way he played for Dallas last year kinda made him unattractive to teams trying to accomplish stuff.

Truth be told, Rondo had been coasting on his reputation for years. Dallas basically cut him in the middle of the playoffs and became better for it. He's a ball dominant player who can't shoot in a league that's increasingly moving towards shooting and spacing. Add in the attitude issues and slipping defense, it's not shocking that no contender would touch him.
