NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman quarterback Quentin Williams was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Terrick Colston, of Delaware State, was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Kareem Leaver, also of DSU, and North Carolina A&T’s Marquell Cartwright, earned Co-Rookie of the Week accolades, while Aggie teammate William Ray Robinson III was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. Norfolk State’s Cameron Marouf was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Williams (QB, 6-0, 190, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) accounted for three touchdowns last week as he led the Wildcats’ offense in a 34-33 non-conference win over Florida Tech. He connected for a career-high tying 16 completions on 28 attempts and registered a career-high 222 yards through the air along with two passing TDs. He also scampered for a rushing touchdown, capping 15 rushing attempts for 31 yards.
Colston (DB, 6-1, 190, Jr., Lakeland, Fla.) collected nine tackles, seven solo stops, in a 35-10 conference victory over Savannah State. He intercepted one pass and forced and recovered a fumble to help seal the win.
Leaver (LB, 6-2, 240, Fr., New York, N.Y.) forced and recovered a fumble for 44 yards for a touchdown in the Hornets’ victory over Savannah State. He also tallied five tackles, three solo, aiding Delaware State to its first win of the season.
Cartwright (RB, 5-9, 190, Fr., High Point, N.C.) rushed 33 times for 135 yards with two touchdowns in the Aggies’ 38-22 win over Howard. He also caught three passes for 21 yards.
Robinson III (LB, 6-3, 307, r-Sr., Clinton, Md.) graded out at 93-percent on his assignments as he anchored the Aggies’ offensive line that accounted for 448 yards of total offense including six pancake blocks in the 38-22 victory over Howard.
Marouf (K, 5-9, 160, Sr., Woodbridge, Va.) finished 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, and set a new single-game career best, connecting from 43, 26 and 44 yards out in a 15-14 win over Morgan State.
